What this is, and is not

This is a count of where the evidence was found for the claims people posted to the SPEAC beta. It is not a ranking of outlets and it is not an endorsement of any of them. Publishers are listed alphabetically. A publisher that does not appear was not cited, and nothing more: most often, no checked claim led there.

The count runs from the beta's first checks, before several of SPEAC's sourcing rules existed, and would look different if those checks were run today. No money is attached to 2026, so the early period advantages no one. The pool for a year is paid on the ledger as it stands when that year closes.

Since July: 604 citations across 253 checked posts. 392 are eligible for a share, from 218 publishers. 201 are credited and not paid. 11 came through hosts and platforms and are not yet attributed to their originators.

Eligible publishers

Publishers of original reporting and research. A publisher's share is its citations divided by all eligible citations in the year. Repositories such as arXiv host research they did not produce; a share credited to a repository belongs to the authors' institutions.

Credited, not paid

Governments, courts, regulators, elections bodies, intergovernmental organizations, sports leagues and any organization reporting its own facts, SPEAC's own pages included. They are named in findings and receive no share.

Not yet attributed

Syndication hosts and platforms that carried someone else's work. The share belongs to the originator once identified; until then these citations are left out of the pool.

Corrections

The counts are automatic, taken from the findings as published. The sorting into the three lists is done by rules, with judgment on the edge cases, and corrected when wrong. If your publication is missing, mis-sorted or mis-named, email ntrepanier@speacsocial.com from a publisher address. The list of cited pages behind any line is available on request.
