The rules of the beta,
in plain language.
BETA NOTICE · Version 3 · Last updated 24 October 2026.
Written in plain language from the code as it runs today, so every line here can be checked against what SPEAC actually does. It has not yet been reviewed by legal counsel; it will be before SPEAC opens beyond the beta. It covers this website (speacsocial.com) and the closed beta feed (app.speacsocial.com).
What SPEAC is right now
SPEAC is a closed beta of a social feed that checks factual claims before they are published, run by SPEAC Social Inc. in Ottawa, Canada. Access is by invitation. The beta is free. Things change weekly, break occasionally, and may pause. By using it you accept these terms and the privacy notice.
Findings are a gauge, not a final arbiter
Each finding comes from an AI engine working under SPEAC's editorial rules. It can be wrong, incomplete or out of date. The sources are shown so you can check them yourself. Do not rely on a finding alone for any decision with legal, medical, financial or electoral consequences. If you know a better or more authoritative source, submit it: that is how the engine improves.
You're welcome to share a finding, including one about your own business. That is what share cards are for. A finding covers one claim as checked on one date. It is not a certification of you, your business or your other claims, and shouldn't be presented as one.
Where the evidence comes from
The engine reads only what any anonymous visitor on the public web can read: the results of a web search, the public page behind a link you submit, and the pages it fetches to build a preview. It has no logins and no credentials. It never reaches into your device, your files, your email or your accounts, and it does not go behind paywalls or firewalls. If you submit a link to a private or paywalled page, SPEAC sees only what a logged-out stranger would see.
Your posts and findings
- What you write stays yours.
- By posting, you allow SPEAC to show your post, your comments and the finding in the beta feed, to send the text to the checking engines described in the privacy notice, and to keep them while the beta runs.
- A check (the claim, the finding, the note and the sources, never your name) may be shared as a public share card by anyone in the beta, and may appear on SPEAC's public pages.
- Your post text and your name appear on SPEAC's public pages only with your permission.
- Removal: email ntrepanier@speacsocial.com and it will be gone within a day.
What you agree not to do
- Post other people's personal information, or anything you have no right to share.
- Post unlawful content, threats or harassment.
- Probe, overload, scrape or automate the service.
Checks are capped at 25 per person per day during the beta. SPEAC may remove posts or withdraw access when these terms are broken.
Feedback
Observations are welcome and are the point of a beta. SPEAC may use what you send to improve the product, without obligation or payment.
No warranty
The beta is provided as is. To the extent the law allows, SPEAC Social Inc. is not liable for loss arising from reliance on a finding, from downtime, or from loss of data during the beta. Keep your own copy of anything you care about.
Law and changes
These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and of Canada. They are dated and will change as the beta changes; anything material will be announced in the feed. Questions: ntrepanier@speacsocial.com.
